Congress President Rahul Gandhi, while making a major reshuffle in the party organization, today appointed senior politician Ahmed Patel as treasurer in place of Motilal Vora. Along with this he has entrusted the responsibility of General Secretary (Administration) to Vora.
Luizinho Fleario has been appointed general secretary in the North-Eastern states (except Assam) in place of senior party leader CP Joshi, who has been associated with Rajasthan. Flareyo is the former Chief Minister of Goa.
Senior leader Anand Sharma was appointed as the chairman of the party’s foreign affairs department in place of Karan Singh and former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar has been included as a permanent invitee member in the Congress Working Committee.
Congress General Secretary Ashok Gehlot said in a statement: “Congress President Rahul Gandhi has appointed Ahmed Patel as Treasurer of Congress with immediate effect. Vora had been holding the post of treasurer of the party for the last 17 years. Being a Political Advisor of the UPA Progressive Alliance (UPA) President Sonia Gandhi, Patel is being considered as a major step in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
Former Union Minister CP Joshi has been freed from the responsibility of the Secretary-General of the North-East. Party sources say that Joshi is working for the party in Rajasthan assembly elections and in view of this, he has been freed from the responsibility of the national organization.
